Not ONLY is he super sexy, he rocked with his performance of “She Works Hard for the Money!” I was pleasantly surprised how he arranged the song. I know that Adam Lambert is everyone’s pick for THE American Idol…but I think Kris will give him some good competition.

Lady Gaga’s performance on American Idol was awesome! I especially loved the slower version of “Poker Face” when she played the piano.

Although I don’t hate any of the contestants anymore…I wasn’t crying about Megan Joy leaving. Her voice works sometimes, but only for a few songs. I think she has a future as a recording artist, though.

My faves are Chris, Danny, and Matt…the girls aren’t doin so hot (excluding Lil Rounds…she just didn’t have a good week this week!)

What a Grey’s Anatomy last night!!

Justin Chambers who plays Alex Karev rocked. His girlfriend, the great Izzie Stephens, is dying…and he showed some serious acting. I know, I know…it’s Grey’s Anatomy, not the best acting in the world, but he did really well. I’m also glad they explained the Denny halucinations…that was too weird.

And who could forget the hottest sex scene ever! Between Christina and Owen (red-head with PTSD). WOAH…it was almost too hot for tv. One of my friends who was watching it with me & Suz said, “This is like porn for girls!” We even had to rewind it and watch it over again.

Finally, Meredith and Derek are FINALLY engaged. And it happened on the elevator…where else! It seems like the show is back, after a season of stupid, cheesy plots and BAD acting.

So I failed that test I didn't study for...

I think Motown is much harder to do than it sounds…much harder to “make your own.” The songs are soo well known that they all sound like kareoke. But these five did awesome! Everyone else was somewhat under the weather…even Danny.

If you don’t watch Idol this won’t make sense to you. Sorry! You should watch it because it rocks!!!

What a way to start off the day. I walk in class this morning not expecting to cry my eyes out before breakfast! We watched Invisible Children, a documentary on the hundreds of Sudanese children refugees living in Uganda. The pictures and stories were overwhelming. I’m sure most of you have heard of it, I know I had, but maybe have never seen it. It was really moving. I have watched A LOT of emotional stuff this semester in my classes. (Refer to one of my first blog posts when I fainted and hit my head in class because of a gruesome documentary.)

This is my fav pic of DD & myself. Don’t we look sweet. This was at a restaurant he took us to…very chic. So if you can’t already tell, I want to move there…not as much as NYC (the greatest city on Earth) but very close. It is AWESOME! The city proper doesn’t even feel that big. And AL and I only got lost one time. We never had any real problems with getting around…anyways…fun trip! Can’t wait to go back.

GEEZ LOUISE…I haven’t blogged in a week! Why?? Because I’ve been hanging out with these hoes in CHICAGO! It was an awesome trip. Here are AL & DD drinking green beer for St. Patty’s Day. I’ve celebrated St. Patty’s Day before, but nothing like this. AL’s camera died so we don’t have any pics of later in the night. We litterally got off the airplane on Sat and went straight to celebrating in Wrigleyville, as in Wrigley Field. It was like Mardi Gras!

of sitting in the editing lab…for hours and hours and never feeling a sense of accomplishment. Right now I am waiting for DVDs to burn. They are taking about 15 minutes a piece…and I need 15 copies. I’m going on my 7th hour. My contacts feel like they are glued to my eyeballs. AHH…and I have to be at work at 8:30. I will think about my trip to Chicago on Saturday(!!!!) and perhaps it will go by faster.

That’s what Suz and I said when we exited the theater for The Reader. Not because it was bad, in fact it was REALLY good, but because it was real, real sad. And kinda hot at the same time. No one else would say it, but I thought the 15 year old was super cute. Stop thinking I’m a perv. His name is David Kross and he’s 18. Pictured above.

But really, it was a very compelling story with an awesome cast. Kate Winslet deserved the Oscar…for playing one twisted lady. Unlike Suz, I sympathized with her character for most of the movie. Anyways, if you live in Tuscaloosa, I hear it will only be here for another week. So go see it. I want to write spoilers.

Getting the Facts Straight

This is a post from Jane…she commented about the first Kendra Key post I made on March 1st:

Just a quick note- The machine doesn’t have a hundred-year winning streak. The SGA was founded at Alabama in 1914, and the independent candidate has won 7 times since then. One of those times was as recently 1986, when current spokesperson for Tuscaloosa County Schools John Merrill won the election. Most agree that the machine is not a good way to decide elections, but if we are going to change anything it is important to know the correct facts about it.

Additionally, none of my friends who are members of Greek organizations have ever implied to me in the least that scare tactics were used to make them vote for one person or another. I had many Greek friends in this week’s election who I know for a fact voted for Kendra because they felt her platform better suited them. They were not afraid to post this on Facebook, join Kendra Key groups, or other forms of public support. Regardless of which candidate they voted for, they seemed to really know what each candidates platform included, which is something I can’t necessarily say of some of my other friends who blindly voted for Kendra just to vote against the machine and “change campus policies.” It’s important to remember that both candidates in SGA elections are very qualified and both sincerely do have students’ interests at heart.

I wanted to put this on my homepage so everyone could read it. I think that Jane makes some excellent points…I didn’t have all of my facts straight. But isn’t that interesting thing about blogging? It teaches us the lesson that we can’t trust blogs as facts. But then again, her facts are coming from wikipedia…should we consider it an accurate source?
In response to her response, I would say that 7 wins out of 95 is pretty much considered a 100 year winning streak and definitely makes the point that the machine has a little too much influence on this campus. Second of all, unless you are in a the greek system, like I am, then you can’t really describe what kind of tactics they use. “Scare” might be a little strong of a word…but someone intimidating me into voting for a candidate that they chose to me is considered a scare tactic. Before now, as a senior, I did not feel comfortable speaking out against the machine. It sounds cowardly…I know…I admit it. But as a little freshman, I was too scared to say anything and now that I’m about to graduate, I know that they can’t do anything to me— not that they ever could. Jane is right, many greeks like myself, have chosen this election to show public support for Kendra because she is so qualified. I am very happy about that. Unfortunately, it didn’t pay off. She lost by just 261 votes. She did mobilize ALOT of people who don’t normally vote, though. Over 14,000 people voted in this election! To give some perspective, last year around 5,000 people voted. I guess this election showed that you can run a competitive campaign against the machine…but you still probably aren’t going to win.
